I wrote this back in May. I published it briefly, then took if off of my blog.
This morning I was going through my “draft” posts and really connected to the words below.
So, I’m republishing it, and hope you are inspired in some fashion by it.
What if we lived by Jesus’ two commands:
“ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mat.22:37-39)
What if we lived the way Jesus has called us to love?
What if we TRULY, started following His command of “love your neighbor as yourself”?
What if we loved ourselves enough so that Jesus’ commands were possible?!
What if we loved the other, because, we can not possibly love God if we don’t love one another?
Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. (1 John 4:20a,21)
What if we lived through, above, and around all of our differences?
Imagine if all the debating was over, and instead focused on dialogue and understanding.
Imagine if we could see through one another’s lenses.
Imagine if we just loved and supported each other- all assumptions aside, all brokenness aside, all opinions aside.
Imagine if we built each other up, instead of slowly deconstructing each other.
Imagine if compassion, understanding, humility, kindness, and patience dominated our thought patterns.
Imagine if the excessive consumerism of our time was negated.
Imagine if we help the impoverished- not feeling obligated, but feeling a real passion for humanity.
If this happened- If THIS happened, we would blow the roof off of eternity, and our God would FINALLY be able to say… “These are MY children, with whom I am well pleased.”
May I get an Amen?
