Discerning the Call

God is pulling at my heart
There is no act that can thwart this art

The longing and pure desperation
The desire to spread The Word to all nations

The restlessness and unease
Oh Lord, you are whom I’m to please

Relying upon myself is worthless
For only You know my true purpose

But if I am to share the Good News
Then reveal it to me fully, if you choose

By your grace women have been naturally gifted
With the character traits Jesus Himself uplifted

Women are blessed with the disposition
Of gentleness, servitude, self-denial, humble leadership and submission

I understand, as a sister, this is an uphill battle
But your strength within me will not be rattled

I seek discernment and honesty
I will not be squashed if I am not called to be

But Lord, if you do not desire me
Then please, Lord, make it apparent and end this discrepancy

I may try to stifle and suppress the urge
But the intensity and power of your calling is an endless surge

for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. (Romans 11:29 NIV)

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:10,11 NIV)
