Walking along a wall
Of rocks
I had to stop

I had walked right into
a quiet conversation
on a closer listen

Splish and splash
Bubbles pass
Froth and foam
The water moans

Beautiful and bold
Say the rocks
But our foundation is firm
And will not be mocked

You carve and contour us
Yes you do
But our strength and stability
Will not be equaled by you

So says the stone
to the sea
